Circle of Care Foundation partners with the A. Richard Grossman Burn Center to provide support for an annual Burn Survivor and Family Camp Weekend, a Housing Program, Staff Education scholarships, and a Direct Patient and Family Resource Program.
In January 2010, Circle of Care Foundation adopted the Grossman Burn Center – Santa Ana to launch a Direct Patient Assistance and Housing Program. This partnership will enable Circle of Care to provide more support for more burn survivors and their families.
Each Memorial Day weekend, about 200 burn survivors and their families come together at the beautiful 81-acre Canyon Creek Sports Camp. The Burn Survivor Family Camp Weekend gives both children and adult burn survivors, and their families, the opportunity to share their stories and experiences, to build self-esteem, develop confidence, and most importantly to learn from each other the skills necessary to lead a healthy and productive life.
The Housing Program provides families of burn patients with a place to stay while their loved ones are being treated at the A. Richard Grossman Burn Center. The apartment is located directly across the street from the burn center. Families are also provided with food and hygiene gift packs, basic supplies, and phone and laundry cards to alleviate expenses during their stay.
The Direct Patient and Family Resource Program assists burn survivors and their families with expenses after-the-burn so they can focus on healing. This includes, but is not limited to, meal assistance, transportation to and from the hospital, clothing or household items, mortgage/rent assistance, and garments, masks and other modalities not covered elsewhere.
The Circle of Care Foundation also provides Staff Education scholarships for the employees of the A. Richard Grossman Burn Center. They attend annual burn conferences and the World Burn Congress for burn survivors. This has proven to enhance the care they provide patients during hospitalization and to help provide better guidance for when the patient returns to their home and to their life.
